Using thick, glassy, glossy resin to intensify colours and highlight the beautiful details in various mediums, from delicate Japanese Chiyogami papers to painted canvas and photographs, jewellery designer Christina Gelinas creates unique and vibrant collages forever suspended in a beautiful piece of jewellery.
Each one-of-a-kind piece is lovingly made with hand cut papers suspended in a clear, hand mixed resin within a silver plated setting. The hardware used for Bashful Pineapple jewellery is hand made at a community conscious studio in Mexico.
Talia Silva is a ceramic artist and designer based in Toronto, Canada. She received a BDes from OCAD, majoring in Environmental Design.
Fascinated by geometry and its relationship to nature and organisms she is drawn to the contrasting frailness and solidity nature possesses. With her work she aims to illuminate the intricacies of our hidden world while confronting contemplation on the passage of time and the impermanence of being.
Her approach to work is playful, pensive and eclectic.
Andrea Howson is an acrylic artist living and working in Belwood, ON. She attended Sheridan College, in Oakville, ON, where she studied and completed a Fine Arts program with Honours. Initially concentrating on the human form, her focus gradually shifted towards wildlife art. She strives to give each of her four-legged or winged subjects a personality the viewer can connect with.
Her artwork takes a whimsical perspective of wildlife, often portraying subjects head-on looking out at the viewer. This is not meant to be confrontational, rather more amusing and curious, taking away the formality that reality sometimes possesses. Her work is dedicated to connecting with the animals and birds that surrounds us and showing others a different and more personal view of the wildlife inhabitants that share the world with us.
With influences of Van Gogh, Matisse, and Chagall, her style of artwork is naturally fluid, dynamic, and intensely colourful. Her paintings show movement, rhythm, and energy, and above all, bring the artist’s imagination to life on the canvas.
Candice is a contemporary watercolour painter and art teacher living in Kitchener, Ontario.
She paints ethereal florals and landscapes with a focus on light, colour and mood. Using pure colours and delicate glazes, she creates dreamy, emotional watercolours inspired by the natural world around her.
She trained at the University of Guelph in their Studio Art program but developed her watercolour style more recently. With a background in history and heritage, her paintings are often influenced and inspired by heritage gardens, buildings and landscapes.
Candice currently teaches classes at Conestoga College and at various art institutions around Kitchener, Waterloo and Guelph. She is a member of Arts Pay and is a member of the KW Urban Sketchers
Her work is in several private collections in Canada and abroad. Her “Corduroy Road” painting done in 2016 is in the permanent Collection of the City of Waterloo.
