A graduate of the Sheridan College Illustration program, Laurie had a long career in commercial art before she began combining those skills with her love of the land and in 1996 had the first of many solo shows at the Wagner Rosenbaum gallery and later Arts on Queen in Toronto. Her immediate approach to painting in the landscape expanded to subjects including still life, interiors and abstractions. Drawing and painting from life, both in and out of the studio, remains at the core of her art practice. 

Laurie’s residence, studio and gallery space are located in a renovated church in Roseville (Ayr), ON. Chapel Studio is a haven for painters and art lovers where Laurie offers mentorship programs, private sessions and workshops. The gallery space is open for private appointments unless otherwise posted. 

Her work can be found in corporate and private collections in Canada, USA, Italy, Germany and Austria. Awards include the Bernice Adams Memorial Award for Visual Art and the KW Women of Distinction Award for Arts and Culture.
