Suji grew up in Sioux Lookout, Ontario and recently moved to Cambridge from Brantford. She is a retired Conestoga College Professor who taught English as a Second Language.
Suji is currently painting with Laurie Wonfor Nolan at her studio in Roseville.
Her art background comprises previous and ongoing studies at Glenhurst Brantford, Dundas Valley School of Art, as well as with numerous artists and in numerous studios and workshops in Ontario, Italy and Morocco. She has been particularly influenced by Lukas Braendli, Studio Toscanella, Florence, Italy.
Studio Toscanella teaches the classical oil painting techniques and process. Each painting begins with preparatory studies pencil or charcoal, and then an oil sketch establishes key elements such as composition and values. The painting is completed with oil pigments in local colour.
