Sandra Zuidema is a ceramic artist and Grade 5-8 art teacher in Hamilton, ON. Her pierced pottery has been selected for numerous juried art shows at the Carnegie Gallery in Dundas, purchased for the Permanent Collection of the Hamilton Potters Guild, and shown in numerous exhibitions: enCompass, Redeemer University; Undercurrents, Earls Court Gallery. Her studio is on the west Hamilton mountain.

Captivated by the patterns and skeletal structures found both in nature and architecture, Sandra’s work reflects this sense of wonder. Her medium is clay, wedged, thrown, carved and pierced just to the point it can stand before breaking. As she pushes the structural limits of clay, she strives to make a substance as hard as rock and sharp as glass feel weightless, as light as a dry leaf, as fluid as water, as fleeting as a flame. In challenging her own technical ability with every pot she designs, she works to inspire others to slow, to notice, to find delight in the veins of a petal, the wing of a bird, or the rib of a vaulted ceiling.
